Homeowners Insurance
Homeowners insurance is one of the most important coverage areas we review, especially for properties in Truckee, Tahoe, Donner Lake, Tahoe Donner, North Lake Tahoe, Reno, and other wildfire-exposed communities.
Mountain homes often require more detailed review than standard suburban homes. Roof age, roof material, defensible space, deck material, heating source, occupancy, rental use, prior claims, property condition, photos, and wildfire score can all affect what options may be available.
We help review traditional homeowners insurance options where available, while also helping clients understand when backup solutions such as the California FAIR Plan and DIC coverage may need to be considered.

FAIR Plan + DIC Coverage
In wildfire-exposed parts of California, traditional homeowners insurance may not always be available. When that happens, the California FAIR Plan may become part of the solution.
The FAIR Plan is not the same as a traditional homeowners policy. In many cases, homeowners also need companion DIC coverage to help address important gaps such as liability, water damage, theft, and other property exposures.
We help clients understand how FAIR Plan and DIC coverage work together, what they do and do not cover, and when this approach may be necessary.

Auto & Renters Insurance
Personal insurance is not limited to homes. Auto and renters coverage can also play an important role in protecting your day-to-day life.
Auto insurance should be reviewed for liability limits, household drivers, garaging location, vehicles used for work, youthful drivers, and whether coverage fits your actual situation. Renters insurance can help protect personal belongings, liability exposure, and loss of use if you are renting a home, apartment, or condo.
For many clients, auto and renters coverage also connects to broader liability planning, especially when an umbrella policy may be appropriate.

Boats, RVs & Toys
Truckee, Tahoe, Reno, and the Sierra are built around outdoor life. Boats, RVs, motorcycles, trailers, ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, and other recreational vehicles can create coverage gaps if they are not reviewed properly.
Important questions include where the vehicle or toy is stored, who uses it, whether it is loaned to others, how it is transported, whether it is financed, and how liability coverage applies.
We help clients review coverage for recreational exposures so the insurance matches how the equipment is actually used.

Local Guidance Matters
Personal insurance in this region is affected by mountain weather, wildfire exposure, home construction, seasonal use, rental activity, road access, carrier appetite, and changing insurance market conditions.
A policy that works in one area may not work the same way in another. A home in Truckee, a cabin near Donner Lake, a property in Tahoe Donner, a rental in Reno, and a second home near North Lake Tahoe can all raise different coverage questions.
Our role is to help you understand realistic options and make informed decisions without turning the process into a generic quote factory.
